The Infantryman started as a favour for a friend.
He asked if Jake would sharpen up his old service knife.
He’d served many years in the infantry, with several tours to Afghanistan and Iraq. Jake told him to swing by the shop, and he delivered the old Cold Steel SRK.
Everyone was taken by its sheer utility.
It was battered, having at one point cut through the roof of a Hum-V to rescue a friend following an IED attack.
It was everything an infantryman’s knife was supposed to be. Jake asked him to leave it with him and it sat there on the bench. As Jake tells it he couldn’t help but pick it up every time he passed it.
The Canton Cutler needed to make his own iteration and so set to work.
Two models; one large and one small - the Full and Junior. Both slightly sleeker, and with aluminium guards and micarta scales.
Full: Blade 14cm, handle (including guard) 11.1cm
Junior: Blade 10.5cm, handle (including guard) 10.5cm
Italian leather sheath to finish. Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel in 4mm, which is pound for pound the best knife steel in the world when we take into consideration stain resistance, machinability, edge retention, toughness and cost.
This can do all the things that the Cold Steel can do, but do it better with superior materials, fit and finish.
Not to detract from the SRK, as it’s the reason this knife exists.
