Supporting responsible shooting
Clearer firearms licensing guidance
FirearmsLicensing.net combines expert articles, practical tools and specialist insight to help responsible shooters understand the UK licensing process, prepare applications and avoid common problems.
Independent, evidence-led information and membership support.
The service
Knowledge before problems arise
FirearmsLicensing.net was created to make a complicated and sometimes inconsistent licensing system easier to understand. Its continually updated articles explain law, police guidance and common licensing issues in plain English, while higher membership tiers add questions, application support and consultation options.
The platform can help first-time applicants, existing certificate holders and people preparing a grant or renewal. Where someone already has a live, ongoing or historic licensing issue, separate consultancy may be required rather than ordinary membership.
Created by Chris Downs
Chris has more than 25 years of frontline and specialist policing experience. As the Metropolitan Police Firearms Licensing Manager, he oversaw 30,000 certificate holders, 80 Home Office-approved clubs and 170 registered firearms dealers.
He later worked as a firearms licensing Subject Matter Expert at the College of Policing, developing training, tools and guidance to improve national practice.
